To anyone out there who’s listening if you feel broken, unseen, or like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, I want you to know this: you are not alone. You might be scrolling late at night, holding back tears, pretending to be strong for everyone around you, or maybe you’re just tired of pretending altogether. I’ve been there. I’ve felt that silence. And I’ve screamed inside of it. My name is Richard Cannon, and I’ve lived through more than most ever see. In 2019, I had major neck surgery two discs removed, artificial ones placed, plates installed. The pain was real and constant. In 2025, I faced heart disease. Years before that, I underwent tumor removals and reconstructive jaw surgery. And between the ages of 8 and 12, I experienced inappropriate abuse from my own father that I kept hidden until my late 30s. If I had spoken up sooner, others could’ve been spared. But I’m speaking now. I will never stay silent again. I’ve also felt the deepest pain a parent can endure. My son, Justin William Cannon, passed away at just six weeks old from congestive heart failure. He was born with Tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia. I held him, prayed for him, and let him go. That heartbreak is woven into every part of who I am. And every day, I show up for my other son, Christian Nelson Cannon, who has severe level three autism and is nonverbal. I’m his homeschool teacher, his therapy team, his voice. We do feeding therapy, ABA, speech therapy around the clock. And I would do it all over again because he is my greatest purpose. Too much to fit into captions on screen , Christian is almost 10 years old and he has severe level 3 autism. He’s nonverbal but his love energy and spirit speak louder than words ever could Haircuts are a big challenge for us. Christian won’t let barbers or anyone else touch his head so I’ve learned to do them myself. It can take up to two hours. There are moments he gets overwhelmed anxious or excited and moves suddenly and I have to be careful not to clip the wrong spot Before we begin I show him the trimmer. I let him hold it feel it explore it. This time I even let him help shave my head first so he could see it’s safe even fun. He got upset a couple of times during this cut but with a little comfort and patience we kept going. And he trusted me That trust means everything Christian may not use words but he communicates in his own powerful ways. Every smile every brave moment every bit of progress is something we celebrate For anyone else walking a similar path you are not alone. What started as fun quickly turned into purpose when our videos reached over 10000 followers in just a month. I realized this platform could be more than entertainment. It could be a mission. I left a six figure career during the pandemic to care for Christian full time. He has severe autism and a fragile immune system, and I knew he needed my full attention. Since then, I’ve dedicated my life to advocating for special needs families and mental health awareness. In 2012, I lost my firstborn son Justin at just six weeks old. That heartbreak pushed me to turn my pain into purpose. Christian was born in 2015, and raising him has shaped every part of my life. I homeschool him and support him through daily therapies. Father’s Day means more to me than most people realize. It’s not just a celebration, it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve had to heal just to get here. Growing up, I didn’t have the kind of father that kids deserve. My childhood wasn’t filled with lessons or encouragement. It was filled with trauma, confusion, abuse, fear, and silence. I didn’t learn how to be a man, I learned how to survive. I wasn’t taught how to love or lead, I was taught how to keep secrets and bury pain. For decades, I ran from that trauma, carrying it on my back like a shadow I couldn’t shake until I finally broke the silence in my late 30s. And even then, I did it quietly. Alone. That pain molded me. It shaped how I walk through this world and how I show up for my own kids. I made a vow a long time ago that the pain would stop with me. That my children would never feel invisible. That they’d never wonder if they were loved. I still battle with the wounds left behind, but being a father gives me purpose. It gives me the drive to be what I never had. And that’s why Father’s Day is sacred to me. Because it’s not just a day on the calendar, it’s a symbol of the cycle I’ve chosen to break. To every real father out there who shows up, even when it’s hard, I appreciate you. They condition us with dopamine spikes to keep us hooked and when we stop performing the way they want they silence us, not by deleting our content, but by making sure no one sees it. That’s how shadowbanning works. Silent censorship. And it’s everywhere. TikTok has become a political weapon. It can boost or silence entire movements. It can sway public opinion without anyone realizing the strings are being pulled. You could be telling the truth, advocating for your community, or calling out injustice and still get buried under the algorithm.
