Cali turned 3 on the 1st Nov 2024 then unfortunately started with her IVDD on the 30th Dec 2024. She had an MRI in January with the money raised so far, fast forward we found out she’s stage 2 ivdd, she has a spinal malformation which she’s had since birth called Hemivertebrae which has grown a piece of tissue on her spinal cord causing her micro instability and she also now has neurological problems caused from the ivdd and her spinal malformation. Cali has been in recovery for 7 months, she has been undergoing conservative treatment since Feb 2025. She has hydro therapy, Lazer and physio therapy. She had been doing so so well and I couldn’t be more proud. Until Thursday morning, she took one of the worst turns she’s took since she was last on her medication a few months ago. She is now back on her meds again but even on her meds she’s still showing symptoms of discomfort and pain somewhere again. Cali may need to go into see her neurologist to be reassessed and if they think she is deteriorating then she will need to go for another MRI with the potential need of surgery. Cali hasn’t had surgery yet as we was told it would be very complex but that was from the first referral place we went to. She is now somewhere new since being messed around from the first place so they may think different when they do their own imagining with an MRI if needed like we was warned at our last appointment 2 months ago. Cali’s insurance has been refusing the past 6 months, I’ve been fighting and fighting for them to cover her conditions and they are adamant they won’t because it’s pre existing even though it really isn’t, meaning Cali will never be covered for her spinal conditions now despite doing everything right for as long as she is here. Leaving me with no choice other than to try and raise and make as money much as I can on social media to try and cover my girls medical bills and what’s to come🥺 Please if you could push all buttons it would be a massive help for my girl🥺🙏🏼 She has a GFM linked in my linktree in my bio too. So Cali’s story so far and where we are at at the minute for the ones who are new here🙏🏼 Cali started with her IVDD on the 30th Dec 2024. I decided to open a GFM for Cali which has been open since January when she first went downhill, we raised £1705 so far however that has been used for her MRI in January and towards her recovery which we are so so grateful for🙏🏼🥺 Cali has been in recovery for 7 months, undergoing conservative treatment since Feb 2025. I spoke with Cali’s neuro yesterday where she said giving what I have told her she thinks Cali is displaying signs of pain again. Said this could be a relapse of her IVDD, she could have slipped a new disc and her malformation could also be contributing towards this. She has prescribed Cali some more medication that I need to collect today to see if it helps. If it doesn’t and she continues to deteriorate or the minute I see a worsening of Cali’s symptoms then to call her and Cali will need to go in. She said what we will then need to do from there is rescan Cali with an MRI and look to do surgery on her. She said if Cali needs surgery it will be a long, complex and risky because of her malformation but after stabilising her spine and removing the disc, it could help fix her problems that she’s now struggling with again. Depending on the piece of tissue on Cali’s spinal malformation now, she may need to operate to 1 remove the disc that’s slipped and 2 to stabilise Cali’s spine by inserting implants and screws to keep it stable. She said when they do their own MRI they can also see what to do about the piece of tissue on Cali’s malformation too which causes the micro instability as before they spoke about removing it and to see if it has grown too but as and when she starts to struggle again as she was getting better in her recovery. Vera said if it gets to that point and Cali needs surgery then that’s what they will look to do next because we have tried everything and now with Cali’s downfall again, that would be next on the table if the meds don’t fix her which personally Im starting to think will only fix her for a short time like these past 7 months but not long term. She told me a fixed price for everything for Cali is between £6000-£6500, so I have now changed the goal from £6000 to £6500 just incase. Cali has been on anti inflammatory meds since Wednesday this week to see if it helps however even with her pregabs for a week already and she is show displaying signs of pain and discomfort and her legs are getting a little more wobbly. She said if Cali needs surgery it will be a long, complex and risky because of her malformation but after stabilising her spine and removing the disc, it could help fix her problems that she’s now struggling with again but the MRI will show more.
